Job description:
Overview
A Pool Sales Consultant is more than just a salesperson; you are a backyard lifestyle architect. Your role is to guide homeowners through the journey of transforming their outdoor space into a private oasis. This involves managing the entire sales lifecycle—from the initial creative "dreaming" phase to the technical assessment of the land and the final contract signing.
This position requires a unique blend of aesthetic vision, technical understanding of construction, and high-level closing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Management: Respond to inquiries and follow up with warm leads generated through marketing or showroom visits.
On-Site Consultations: Visit prospective clients’ homes to measure yards, evaluate topography, and identify potential construction obstacles (e.g., utility lines or access issues).
Design & Visualization: Use 3D design software to create custom pool layouts that incorporate water features, decking, and landscaping based on client preferences.
Project Estimating: Calculate accurate project costs, including excavation, equipment, labor, and materials, ensuring profitable margins.
Sales Presentations: Pitch comprehensive backyard solutions, handling objections regarding price, timeline, and maintenance.
Contract Negotiation: Finalize sales agreements and assist clients with financing options or permitting paperwork.
The Sales Journey
The process of selling a pool is high-touch and high-value, typically following this workflow:
Discovery: Identifying the client's budget and how they plan to use the pool (e.g., exercise, entertaining, or family fun).
Site Evaluation: Determining the best placement for the pool based on sunlight, drainage, and local building codes.
Design Phase: Refining the shape, depth, and finish (plaster, tile, or pebble).
Closing: Solidifying the vision and securing the deposit.
Required Skills & Qualifications
2+ years in high-ticket "in-home" sales (e.g., remodeling, roofing, or landscaping).
Ability to visualize spaces in 3D; experience with Pool Studio or AutoCAD is a plus.
Basic understanding of hydraulics, soil types, and local zoning laws.
Ability to build deep rapport and manage expectations over a long sales cycle.
Must be willing to work weekends and evenings to accommodate homeowners & schedules.
Job Type: Full-time
