Sawmill Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

Meherrin River Forest Products is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our sawmill team. This position is responsible for helping maintain production equipment, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient mill operations.

We are looking for someone with strong mechanical ability, welding experience, and a willingness to learn and grow within the sawmill industry. Experience in sawmill maintenance is preferred, but candidates with industrial maintenance backgrounds and a good work ethic are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on sawmill equipment

Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and production issues

Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed

Assist with hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and drive system maintenance

Help maintain motors, bearings, chains, belts, and gearboxes

Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs

Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner

Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Work closely with supervisors and operators to improve uptime and efficiency

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

Welding and fabrication experience

General industrial or sawmill maintenance experience

Basic electrical knowledge

Experience with motors, drives, sensors, or control systems is a plus

Familiarity with hydraulic systems and conveyors preferred
