Packaging Machine Operator
Location: Columbus, OH
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
We are currently hiring dependable and motivated Packaging Machine Operators for a growing manufacturing facility in Columbus, Ohio. Multiple shifts are available with competitive pay rates and opportunities for long-term employment. Available Shifts & Pay
1st Shift
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Training Schedule: One week on 1st shift, Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Training will primarily take place in a classroom setting.
2nd Shift
Schedule: Monday – Friday 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour (includes shift differential)
Training Schedule: One week on 1st shift, Monday – Friday 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Training will primarily take place in a classroom setting.
3rd Shift
Schedule: Sunday – Thursday 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Pay Rate: $22.50/hour (includes shift differential)
Training Schedule: One week on 1st shift, Sunday – Thursday 11:00 PM – 3:00 AM
Training will primarily take place in a classroom setting.
Job Responsibilities
Stage approved repackaging materials and equipment for production runs
Assist with operating packaging equipment and perform minor troubleshooting
Follow escalation procedures when equipment issues require maintenance support
Support packaging and repackaging operations while ensuring all quality standards are met
Assist with production room cleaning and equipment sanitation
Participate in packaging, compliance, and operational training programs
Adhere to all cGMP standards, safety regulations, and company procedures
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the production area
Work collaboratively with operations and quality teams to meet production goals
Identify and report production or quality concerns promptly
Complete required compliance and production documentation accurately
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Ability to read, write, and understand English
Ability to stand for 8–12 hour shifts
Manual dexterity and ability to work with hands consistently throughout shift
Ability to lift, push, and handle materials averaging 25 lbs., up to 35 lbs.
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Basic math skills required
Detail-oriented with good judgment and problem-solving abilities
Previous manufacturing, assembly, or production line experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in packaging or manufacturing environments
Familiarity with GMP or regulated production environments is a plus
Ability to identify production and quality issues in a fast-paced setting
