Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Night: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM), typically 3x12 schedule (36 hours/week). Rotating weekdays and some weekends with every-other-weekend coverage; rotating holidays. On-call required.

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $64.5 per hour

Requirements

Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality progressive care nursing to adult patients in a PCU/stepdown setting

Monitor telemetry continuously and interpret dysrhythmias to intervene quickly and safely

Start and manage IVs, PICC and central lines, and administer blood products per protocols

Manage ventilated and respiratory-compromised patients using HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy care

Titrate insulin drips and heparin protocols, and manage titratable cardiac drips as needed

Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to support continuity of care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (RT, PT, pharmacy, social work, etc.) to optimize patient outcomes

Participate in rapid response/code teams and provide emergent cardiac/telemetry interventions

Float to equivalent units when needed while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience

ACLS and BLS (BCLS) certifications required

Epic charting experience required

Previous travel experience preferred

Comfort working in a teaching hospital environment (experience preferred)

Willingness to float to different units within the organization and to be on-call as required

Familiarity with 1:3 patient ratios on days, nights and weekends

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation

IV therapy, start and maintenance of peripheral and central lines

Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients

Chest tube care and management (Emerson/PleurEvac)

BiPAP/CPAP management and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation

Tracheostomy and feeding tube care

Hemodialysis pre/post management and renal failure care

Blood product administration and adherence to transfusion protocols

Insulin drip titration, heparin protocols and titration of cardiac drips

Rapid response/code team participation and emergency response

Infection control, isolation precautions and PPE best practices
