Job Title: Medical Assistant

Primary Location: Portsmouth, VA (Must be willing to travel to all locations - see below)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview:

Tidewater Neurologists, Inc. and Sleep Disorder Specialists are seeking a dedicated and motivated Medical Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time opportunity offering professional growth and the chance to make a meaningful impact in patient care.

Please note: This position requires regular travel to all clinical locations in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Portsmouth. Applicants must be comfortable commuting between sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures

Prepare and maintain patients’ medical records and documentation

Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring effective communication

Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical supplies

Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless patient care

Perform administrative duties, including data entry and record management using Microsoft Office and Excel

Deliver excellent customer service to patients and their families

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in healthcare is a plus

MA Certification required

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a specialty practice

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Experience with Electronic Health Records (Athena preferred; training available)

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Excellent customer service skills

Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to all clinical sites
