We are seeking a General Medicine Physician for a locum tenens position near Three Rivers, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to provide important Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans. This role is on a PRN (as-needed) basis with flexible scheduling options, offering a chance to support the healthcare needs of Veterans in your community or across other locations. Position Details:
Job Type : Locum Tenens General Medicine
Location : Near Three Rivers, CA
Shifts : PRN, as-needed basis; flexible half-day (4-hour) and full-day (8-hour) shifts
Certification Requirements :
Must have an active and unrestricted California medical license
Ability to complete Disability Medical Advisor (DMA) training (CME credits available)
Proficient in METs testing, cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal evaluations
Laptop Requirement : Must own a personal laptop (no Mac/Apple products) Key Responsibilities:
Perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams for Veterans, focused on:
Musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological assessments
Interview-based exams with some physical assessment (e.g., range of motion, muscle strength)
Submit reports within 48 hours using standardized forms via a secure provider portal
Record review is required in most cases; follow-up administrative work (e.g., addendums, medical opinions, diagnostic reviews) is part of the role
Use of Goniometer and familiarity with musculoskeletal conditions is essential
No prescribing or ongoing treatment required Additional Information:
Onboarding and Training :
Quick credentialing process, with training provided for Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs)
Completion of a 2-hour PEP session required before starting shifts (via Zoom or Microsoft Teams)
Providers will receive ongoing support from a New Provider Liaison to ensure success with exam documentation and veteran cases
Optional Travel : Local candidates preferred, but there may be opportunities to travel to other locations as needed Preferred Experience:
Physicians with backgrounds in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine are highly encouraged to apply
Familiarity with Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) or similar programs is a plus but not required
