Job Description
America is critically deficient in production of defensive munitions- we currently produce shipborne interceptors in the few hundreds per year while our adversaries are producing offensive threats in the tens of thousands per year. Furientis was started to help solve this problem- introducing a new class of cost-effective, high production rate, interceptor missiles. We're seeking motivated individuals who internalize this problem and are eager to apply their past experience in similar industries (aerospace, defense, automotive/racing, robotics) and out of the box thinking to solve this problem for the US and its allies.About the Team
The Avionics Team owns the electronics on the vehicle: flight computer, compute boards, power conversion, sensor interfaces, wiring, and the embedded firmware that ties them together. The same engineers design the boards, write the firmware, and bring them up at the bench. No handoff layer between hardware and software.
Avionics sits on the critical path for every flight test, so the team's velocity sets the program's pace.About the Role
We are looking for an outstanding electrical engineer with deep experience in power systems and circuit design for aerospace or other demanding hardware environments.
You will lead the design and development of power electronics, distribution systems, embedded electrical hardware, and mission-critical avionics circuitry.
This role requires both strong theoretical engineering fundamentals and practical hands-on debugging capability. What You'll Do
Design power distribution and conversion systems for aerospace platforms.
Develop analog and digital circuit designs for avionics and vehicle systems.
Create schematics, PCB layouts, and bring-up procedures.
Design battery management, power regulation, and protection systems.
Design the actuator drive electronics for the fin control actuation system: power stage, current sensing, motor commutation, position-interface front-end, and motor-bus partitioning. Spec to the Control Actuation Engineer's requirements; partner with Avionics software on bench tuning.
Support EMI/EMC design and validation efforts.
Perform hardware debugging, integration, and environmental testing.
Work closely with embedded software and systems engineers.
Develop test infrastructure and hardware validation procedures.
Help establish scalable electrical architecture standards.Skills We're Hiring For
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
5+ years of circuit and power systems design experience.
Strong analog and digital circuit design fundamentals.
Experience designing power electronics and high-reliability systems.
Experience with PCB design and schematic capture tools.
Experience debugging hardware in laboratory environments.
Strong understanding of power integrity, grounding, and EMI mitigation.
Motor drive design experience: BLDC and PMSM power stages, gate driver selection, current sensing topologies, and EMI mitigation for high-current motor buses.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Bonus Points For
Aerospace, EV, robotics, or high-performance mobility experience.
Experience with high-voltage systems.
Familiarity with FPGA interfaces and embedded systems.
Experience with thermal analysis and reliability engineering.
Experience designing hardware for demanding aerospace or high-reliability environments, including familiarity with DO-160 environmental qualification, EMI/EMC mitigation, and power integrity validation.
Experience taking hardware from prototype through production.
Eligibility & Logistics Location: On-site at our Los Angeles, CA HQ; remote work is not available. Monthly weekend travel for test events and supplier engagements. Clearance: A clearance is not required for this position. Must be a U.S. Person.
Equal Opportunity & Export Compliance Furientis is an equal-opportunity employer. To comply with U.S. export control laws, employment is contingent on eligibility to access export-controlled information.
