This position blends mental health support, academic guidance, and college/career readiness into one impactful role that works closely with students, families, faculty, and community partners.
The Student Success & Support Coordinator supports the academic, emotional, and postsecondary development of high school students. This role blends mental health counseling with college and career advising, ensuring students are known, supported, and prepared for life beyond graduation.
The coordinator works closely with students, families, and staff to provide responsive mental health support, proactive academic guidance, and individualized postsecondary planning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Mental Health & Wellness
Provide short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention
Identify and support students experiencing social-emotional or mental health challenges
Develop and implement student wellness plans
Coordinate referrals to outside providers when needed
Partner with faculty to support trauma-informed and student-centered practices
2. Postsecondary Planning (College & Career Readiness)
Lead individualized postsecondary planning for all students (college, trade, military, workforce)
Guide students through college applications, essays, financial aid (FAFSA), and scholarships
Coordinate college visits, career exploration opportunities, and alumni connections
Maintain relationships with colleges, training programs, and community partners
Track and support key milestones (testing, applications, deadlines, acceptances)
3. Academic Support & Student Success
Monitor student academic progress and partner with teachers on interventions
Support students with goal-setting, time management, and study skills
Participate in academic review meetings and family conferences
Help design and implement systems of academic support and intervention
4. Family Partnership & Communication
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and postsecondary planning
Facilitate workshops for families on mental health, college readiness, and financial aid
Serve as a trusted point of contact for student support concerns
5. School-Wide Leadership
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture
Lead or support advisory programming related to wellness, identity, and future planning
Collaborate with school leadership on student support systems and policies
Maintain accurate and confidential student records Requirements:
Qualifications
Master’s degree in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or related field
Licensure (LPC, LCSW, or School Counselor endorsement preferred)
Experience in a Title I and/or public school setting strongly preferred
Experience working with adolescents in a high school
Strong understanding of mental health practices, including trauma-informed care
Experience with college counseling, financial aid, and/or career readiness preferred
Excellent relational skills with students, families, and staff
