Job Description
Responsibilities:
Assists in preparing patients for their procedure
Works with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to requirements of patient, physician, and procedure, assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments.
Assists physician during endoscopy procedure
Collects and handles patient specimens per policy. Assists the RN in accurately documenting and handling specimens.
Reports observed changes in patient condition to nurses and physicians
Works collaboratively with the endoscopy team to assure high level disinfection and/or sterility of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedure
Follows manufacturer’s instructions for use for all steps of cleaning, high level disinfection or sterilization for instruments and/or equipment
Appropriately cleans endoscopy suite between cases following centers policy and procedures
Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies
Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to the Code of Conduct
Complies with center policies and procedures
Demonstrates an attitude that is caring, respectful, sensitive, and compassionate.
Provides a safe environment for the patient
Communicates safety concerns appropriately, following Chain of Command
Assists in ensuring accurate documentation for procedure records and logs.
Promotes patient and physician satisfaction
Practices appropriate aseptic techniques and sterile processes as appropriate to the endoscopy suite
Maintains flexibility and performs other duties as required
Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required
Position Qualifications:
Highschool diploma or GED
Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturer’s instructions or instructions for use. Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and professionally interact with Physicians managers, employees, patients, vendors, and the general public.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift, push or pull objects or patients.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to multi-task effectively, efficiently, accurately, and with attention to details
1 year experience working as an Endoscopy Technician
Successful completion of Basic Life Support provider program
This position requires availability for no less than 2 shifts per month with at least one being a weekend shift (630a-1230p)
