Project Development Coordinator for Public Programs

Department of Parks & Recreation

Location: Manhattan

Full-time

$62,868.00 – $97,593.00

Job Description

Only open to current full-time annually paid parks employees. Major Responsibilities include: under general direction, performing difficult administrative duties for the Public Programs division; working closely with various department heads to assist in managing the strategic approach to program delivery; coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes; researching and writing memoranda, reports, policy briefings, press releases, correspondence, and other documents; providing support in managing communication, data, and information reporting processes; tracking and researching community statistics and programming partners; providing support for professional development, training opportunities, and performance incentive strategies; managing marketing and branding requests; working closely with other divisions within the Agency on various functions and strategic initiatives; maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, performing filing, and coordinating records retention; managing office duties and special projects; providing excellent customer service by answering phones, directing inquiries, and receiving visitors and deliveries.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Education or a related field. 2. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, writing and time-management skills. 3. Experience working in public programming including but not limited to recreation, nature education, aquatics programming, media education and/or community engagement. 4. Proficiency in Office 365 and all associated applications, file sharing systems, and online project management tools. 5. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. 6. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
