Job Summary: The Project Engineer I supports project setup and daily operations by assisting with document control, basic procurement, quantity verification, and coordination between field and office teams. Typical assignments include small private or commercial asphalt projects and other similarly scoped work packages completed under close guidance.
Main Responsibilities:

Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
Assist with contract handoff by organizing electronic job folders and supporting the transfer of scope information from the estimator and foreman.
Request job numbers and help prepare initial submittals for review and routing.
Support basic procurement tasks, including confirming material delivery dates and verifying received materials against approved submittals.
Help prepare permit and SWPPP application packages by gathering required documents and routing them to the appropriate team member for submission.
Assist in developing schedule cards and short-interval plans under the direction of a PE2, PE3, or Project Manager.
Track and file timecards, material tickets, and trucking tickets, ensuring quantities are verified and reconciled daily or weekly.
Draft and log basic RFIs; prepare RFPs for review; and maintain the submittal, RFI, and RFP logs.
Update drawing sets, distribute revisions, and assist with locates, testing coordination, and traffic control vendor communication.
Prepare owner/agency notices (PSA/homeowner mailers) and assist in setting up FleetWatcher geozone information as directed.
Support quantity verification for pay estimates and prepare internal review documentation.
Contribute to project closeout by helping track punch list items, compile redlines/as-builts, route lien waivers, and assemble final closeout documents.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Valid driver's license and clean driving history required.
Skills:
Experience in heavy highway, municipal, and/or commercial construction preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); exposure to Bluebeam/Procore/Viewpoint or similar is a plus.
Detail orientation, strong organization, and willingness to work in both field and office settings.

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Frequently required to Stand/work on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery, exposure to loud noise
Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions
