Utility Facilities Technician
In support of Puckett Machinery's shop-based service technicians in the Component Rebuild Center (CRC), the Utility/Facilities Technician is responsible for performing various maintenance/cleaning, organizing, inventory, equipment inspection, painting, and contamination control tasks in designated areas. This position will often require working hours in addition to the normal work schedule and will be required to work flexible schedules to complete tasks while the shop is down. This is a semi-skilled position that reports to the CRC Service Supervisor.
Organize, maintain, and clean assigned areas of the facility (the disassembly, assembly, and dynamometer & areas outside the CRC door) to ensure a safe and clean work environment. Assist the Tool Room/Facilities Coordinator in maintaining wash bays, parts washers, wash rack, shop compressors, and other various shop equipment.
Empty shop trash and metal dumpsters into outside large roll-off containers daily. Empty oil-drain pans into central waste oil tanks. De-clutter, sweep, mop and clean work stations.
Inspect and maintain fluid levels in fork trucks and floor/yard sweepers on a daily basis. Perform basic preventive maintenance as necessary. Operate floor sweeper and yard sweeper as needed.
Conduct basic daily preventive maintenance on a variety of facility equipment and tooling, as directed.
Monitor & maintain shop tool storage areas daily for proper placement and storage of shop utilized jacks, jack stands, belly pan jacks, brooms, shovels, grease carts, shop fans, mop buckets, ladders, step-ladders, oil suction machines, oil drain-pans, welding equipment, stencil carts, lifting chains, forklifts, floor/yard sweepers, etc.
Prepare service, condition, and safety reports, time cards, and other related paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Paint lines and stencils on shop floor to maintain designated placement and identification for all shop tools, equipment, and safety items.
Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned tasks.
Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Cross-functionally backup the function of other service personnel such as Inspector, Wash Rack, Tool Room/Facilities Coordinator during periods of absence.
What you Bring to the Role:
High school diploma or GED equivalent plus at least 2 years previous facility support/maintenance experience in manufacturing, construction, oil field, heavy machinery shops, or an industrial environment
Proficient in the use of small tools, equipment, and supplies used to clean, organize, paint, and maintain shop facilities including but not limited to: floor / yard sweepers, floor scrubbers, brooms, mops, shop vacuums, paint spray guns, paint brushes, paint rollers, liquid sump vacuums, grinders, sanders, pressure washers, tape measures, and various tools/supplies to clean and detail machinery cabs
Must be forklift certified and have the ability to safely use material handling equipment and tooling and wear company required PPE (protective eyewear, gloves, footwear) during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 10 hours.
Good customer service and interpersonal communication skills used in supporting shop technicians
Good problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy
Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations
Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast paced service environment
Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary
