ABOUT CHETOLA RESORT

For 180 years, Chetola Resort has offered guests a timeless mountain escape in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Serving as the gateway to beautiful Blowing Rock, North Carolina as a luxury haven where adventure meets tranquility, Chetola blends refined hospitality with immersive outdoor experiences-from Orvis®-endorsed fly fishing to award-winning dining, spa indulgence, and family-friendly recreation. Under new ownership, we are embracing an exciting new chapter rooted in thoughtful renewal, authentic elegance, and exceptional guest service guided by Forbes-level service standards.

THE ROLE

Chetola Resort is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This individual helps maintain the physical integrity, safety, and presentation of the resort, with a primary focus on condominium residences and support for Lodge hotel rooms and public spaces.

This role is essential to delivering a seamless luxury guest experience - ensuring every space is fully functional, meticulously maintained, and guest-ready at all times. The Maintenance Engineer works behind the scenes and in guest-facing moments to uphold the Forbes standard of effortless excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Operational Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance duties across the resort including basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs

Respond promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests

Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, lighting, appliance, and in-room functionality issues

Complete daily inspections of assigned areas to proactively identify maintenance needs

Monitor and report unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions and take immediate corrective action

Assist with snow removal, groundskeeping, and seasonal projects as needed

Support preventive maintenance schedules and maintain accurate work order documentation

Collaborate closely with Housekeeping, Guest Services, Security, and other departments to resolve issues quickly and discreetly

Forbes Service & Presentation Standards

Ensure guest spaces are fully functional, pristine, quiet, and free of visible defects before guest arrival

Enter guest areas with discretion, professionalism, and respect for guest privacy

Communicate clearly and courteously when interacting with guests, demonstrating calm confidence and ownership

Anticipate maintenance needs by identifying early signs of wear, damage, or guest inconvenience

Protect the aesthetic integrity of the resort by completing repairs that meet appearance and craftsmanship standards

Shift & Team Support

Work independently while maintaining strong communication with team leads

Keep work areas, tools, carts, and storage spaces clean, organized, and presentation-ready

Provide backup coverage for other shifts or urgent situations

Uphold a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Requirements

ATTENTION TO DETAIL IN ACTION

At Chetola, attention to detail means noticing what others might miss and resolving it before it impacts the guest experience. Examples include:

A door that closes perfectly and quietly every time

Lighting that is consistent in brightness and color temperature

No visible patchwork, exposed hardware, or unfinished repairs

HVAC operating at comfortable levels without noise disruption

Fixtures aligned, tightened, and fully functional

Guest rooms and residences free from maintenance odors, marks, or visual defects

Work completed cleanly with the space left better than it was found

Maintenance Engineers take ownership of the final impression - ensuring every repair supports the feeling of effortless luxury.

Willing to jump in and support other departments when needed
