Responsibilities
Kforce has a client in Allen, TX that is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the engineering team. We have over 42 terabytes of data in MySQL, Postgres and MongoDB/DocumentDB. We use Ruby and Elixir to run over a million transactions for our customers every day. Our typical response times are 1-2 seconds for a basket of products and we maintain uptimes north of 99.99%. We target daily deploys and continuous testing. Summary:This Ruby on Rails Software Engineer position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing of code to enhance and cultivate several of the company solutions for consumer and call center users. Responsibilities include building new applications for internal and users. Experience with Javascript is required.Duties:
Take and understand business requirements and goals
Work collaboratively with project managers and stakeholders to make sure that all aspects of the project are delivered as planned
Involved at all stages of the development life cycle: initial analysis, implementation, integration, testing, debugging, and support
Willing to assume leadership for products, design patterns, test coverage, line of business, or other areas of focus Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent job experience
Experienced developer in full stack web development, able to build complete data-backed products
Full MVC (model-view-controller) development experience with Ruby on Rails
Experience with JavaScript/React
Experience using Git productively in a team environment
Experience with Docker
Experience with Amazon Web Services
Ability to sit with business or technical SMEs to listen, learn and propose technical solutions to business problems
Experience using and adapting to new technologies
Experience with TDD (test driven development) or at least commitment to full test coverage using modern test methods
Empathy for consumers, teammates, business owners, and other stakeholders
Love working as part of a team and continuously strive for self-improvement Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Ruby on Rails
Experience with JavaScript/React
Strong SQL skills with MySQL or PostgreSQ
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
