Position Notes This is a staff augment to increase the capacity of the team. This is a contract-only position, expected to last through January 2023 with the ability to extend until the Securian tenure limit.

Working Arrangement Open to 100% remote if the candidate is outside a commutable distance to the St Paul office. If the candidate is local, we'd like them to join the team in the office when the team decides to go in. Right now it's looking like 1 time a week or 1 time a sprint, subject to change. Interview Process Two-three candidates will be interviewed per week and the interviews will be remote. The Functional interview will be STAR/Behavioral format. The Technical interviews will include technical questions and a Java code review exercise. The team will aim to have a decision by EOD Friday each interview week.

The people and technology that power our Group business work in the Institutional Market Technology – Group Division of Enterprise Technology. We are seeking a mid level web application developer to work on the Enable Purchase team which delivers external facing web applications and services that enable the enrollment and administration of Group insurance products. Applications supported by this team include customer-facing web apps, real-time web services, and single sign-on. Critical web apps include, LifeBenefits: website that allows employees to view, manage and/or enroll in benefits, to complete health questions when required by the life insurance program, and to view/manage beneficiary information, LifeBenefitsExtra: website that provides HR/Benefits Administrator self-service access to view beneficiary information and plan information, including claims and medical underwriting status, and claim notification, Online EOI: website that allows our clients' employees to complete evidence of insurability digitally. The candidate should be able to provide engineering examples of work they've done in similar external-facing web apps.

The candidate possesses strong communication skills with a natural ability to clearly and effectively articulate thoughts and asks questions in a collaborative, agile atmosphere. The ideal candidate is a full-stack developer who has a strong interest and experience with front-end development on external-facing web applications/portals. They can work with Javascript, JSP, CSS, HTML/HTML5, Jquery, Spring MVC, and Java. Experience with Spring Web Flow is nice to have. In addition, they have experience navigating complex backends integration architectures consisting of RESTful services which pull in dependencies from multiple other systems.

Nice to haves:

Experience using tools for code migration and deployment, like GitHub Actions.

Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services.

Experience with JUnit in Java for unit tests.

Experience with site and performance monitoring tools, like Dynatrace and Splunk.

Experience with static and dynamic testing tools, like Veracode.

Experience with Tomcat Application Server and eclipse IDE.

Experience performing analysis, design, development, integration or support on highly complex assignments. Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Web Flow.

Structured Query Language (SQL)

Technical aptitude and demonstrated experience onboarding to new platform solutions to support highly complex and customized insurance products.

Understanding of DevOps CI/CD.
