Description of Job Duties

Job Summary:

The Groundskeeper reports to the Grounds Supervisor in coordination with the Physical Plant Director with the primary duties of maintaining SWOSU's grounds in an aesthetic and well-preserved manner. Acts as a resource for the Physical Plant department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors

Perform duties generally associated with grounds work, including care and maintenance of equipment

Assist in other areas as requested

Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as reading labels, assisting in building security, preparing and maintaining bed for shrubs and ground cover, assisting with debris, snow, and ice removal, and use a variety of tools associated with grounds work

Work Setting:

Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality

Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment

Assist with call-back situations as called upon

Employment at will

Full-time status

12-month appointment

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

Basic reading and mathematics skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous landscaping or grounds experience

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate

Competencies:

Organized, manages time effectively, and keeps tasks appropriately prioritized

Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of moving processes and programs forward to the desired outcome
