Providers with South Texas Health System (STHS) Clinics deliver high quality family medicine, health screenings and advanced specialized care to the people of the Rio Grande Valley. Our clinics are affiliated with South Texas Health Systems' four acute care hospitals, behavioral health hospital, six freestanding emergency rooms and one joint venture hospital. Specially trained and highly experienced, our physician group treats a wide range of conditions using advanced technologies and minimally invasive techniques.
The Intern performs support tasks to improve healthcare quality and safety, improve patient care, and engage patients and their families in their healthcare. Completes assigned projects and tasks to gain experience in designated field(s). Works on real-time and meaningful projects; develops technical skills; collaborates and networks with various teams; and receives mentorship.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Shadow local market Director and Clinic Leadership to gain understanding of roles and responsibilities Strategic Management, Clinical Management, Physician management, Business Development and Recruitment
Will learn the aspects of Health Care Administration and Leadership Leadership Skills, Financial Management, Revenue Cycle, Contracts, and Quality and Operational workflows
Learns basic functional areas within assigned department. Rotates through divisions of responsibility and provides ideas to grow and improve business
Learn and become proficient in internal software systems. Will learn the aspects of Project Management- working on special and specific tasks and projects as needed Lease management, Building Management, Purchasing, Business Planning, Proformas and Excel Spreadsheets
Participate in key department project work. Accept designated, business-focused projects to research, propose ideas and solutions as needed
Gains understanding of the company business model and how department functions as part of the business. Understands the company brand, customers, product goals and all other aspects of service
Participate in department meetings to learn ongoing initiatives

Qualifications Requirements:
High School Graduate/Equivalent required
Currently pursuing a bachelor's/masters degree or a related degree (preferably Healthcare Administration/Health Policy) from an accredited college or university.
Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Desire to learn and share ideas in a collaborative work environment
Strong organizational skills
Ability to multi-task with accuracy and attention to detail.
