Supervisory Fire Protection Specialist

Assistant Fire Chief Duties

Serve as the Assistant Fire Chief with supervisory and management oversight responsibilities to develop, plan, update, coordinate, conduct and monitor organizational/installation technical services programs and training concerning fire suppression, specialized rescue, hazardous material, Emergency Medical, Disaster Preparedness Services, Fire Prevention and Public Education Programs.

Supervise subordinate employees and provides guidance in the development, implementation and delivery of technical services training, prevention, and public education programs for installation personnel.

Ensure building and facility pre-plans, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, water distribution systems (fire hydrants), life safety features and extinguishers are up-to-date and properly maintained.

Review building plans, scope(s) of work, and design of fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems to ensure compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria, DOD/DLA regulations as well as nationally recognized standards such as those promulgated by organizations like the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Respond to emergency incidents and assumes immediate control until relieved by Assistant Fire Chief for Emergency Operations or the Fire Chief.
