Manual Machinist
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual machining equipment while maintaining high standards of precision, safety, and workmanship.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual vertical mills, lathes, grinders, and vertical/horizontal bandsaws
Operate jib hoists and bridge cranes safely and efficiently
Read and interpret close-tolerance blueprints and technical drawings
Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and tape measures
Calculate proper machining speeds and feeds for various machining applications
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and quality standards
Required Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of machining equipment, tooling, and precision measuring instruments
Understanding of arithmetic and machining-related mathematical calculations
Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and apply logical problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to monitor equipment performance and identify operational issues
Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or within a team environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical training and/or minimum 5 years of machine shop experience preferred
Must own personal machinist tools
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Must be able to demonstrate machining skills during the interview process
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time position
Expected schedule: 40 hours per week
Starting pay from $20.00 per hour, based on experience
