Germanna Community College is currently in searching for an Events Support Aid. Candidate will support the Events Team and assist internal and external clients with events. This position may perform routine event support activities such as checking in with clients (in-person and via email) and answering questions about event space; turning on computers, projectors, and microphones; hanging up signs; directing clients to appropriate locations; checking in with facilities, IT, security, and housekeeping services to address client concerns. This role will also assist in submitting support tickets for IT and submitting events to the events calendar with support. This position will use templates to prepare materials for clients. May shred documents, scan or copy documents, or make changes to forms (such as updating contact information, rates, or logos). Please Note: This position will sometimes set up and tear down event spaces and requires occasional lifting and moving of tables and chairs weighing up to approximately 40-50 pounds.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Support events for internal and external clients. Provide office support for event preparation and execution. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications - Ability to become proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook. Positive, can-do attitude. Punctual and dependable. Strong communication skills. Willingness to learn. Comfortable working flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends. Ability to safely lift and move folding tables, chairs, and other items related to events setup or tear down. Experience with or willingness to learn AI tools.
Additional Considerations - Customer service skills: one or more years of customer service experience preferred. Attention to detail. Team-work oriented. Ability to multitask and balance competing priorities.
