Position Summary: The Emergency Services Manager has 24/7 responsibility for the department. This includes being on call and ensuring proper department staffing. Oversees the daily activities in the department, ensures prompt response to patient and referral needs, provides supervision to staff, and assures appropriateness of assessments, level of care determinations and referrals. Monitors data entry and assists in educating other clinicians within the department. Responds to clinical inquiry calls from families or referring professionals and completes level of care assessments. Provides appropriate clinical triage. Provides accurate and complete information to Hospital Administration and providers regarding admissions, referrals, discharges etc. Trains staff in admission process, policies and procedures. Assures compliance with all applicable mental health laws, codes, rules and regulations. Maintains all data/records regarding the intake and admission process and follows all policies/procedures. Obtains, organizes and has current information regarding discharges, bed availability, admission times, level of care assessments, etc. Knowledgeable and able to explain Hospital programs and services. Has a strong understanding of the department computer systems. Completes and distributes corporate reports, completes staffing schedules and maintains forms and documents. This is the equivalent of an Emergency Room environment; it is fast paced and requires the ability to multitask and handle highly stressful situations. Covers for the Director or other ES Leadership positions in their absence. Participates in rotating AOC schedule to provide administrative support/coverage for the entire hospital.

Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or Psychology or related field or Nursing degree. Experience: Minimum 3 years experience working with a psychiatric mental health population required; 5+ years preferred. Experience in an emergency room setting / Intake preferred. Licensure/Certification: LPC, LSW or RN required. LCPC or LCSW preferred. Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the DSM-V criteria, psychotropic medications, and strong assessment skills with the ability to develop quick and effective clinical rapport. Thorough understanding of hospital programs and services, with the ability to clearly explain available resources and processes to patients, families, and staff. Ability to provide de-escalation techniques and crisis stabilization in high-pressure situations. Working knowledge of Illinois Confidentiality Act, Illinois Mental Health Code, EMTALA, and ILPA process. Serves as role model for staff promoting desirable performance through maintaining a professional approach and providing a positive work environment. Excellent organization, documentation, and data management skills with strong attention to detail. Good oral skills, and written communication.
