Job Description
The Engineer I will support engineering design, standards development, and technical implementation activities related to utility infrastructure projects. This role involves working with engineering drawings, specifications, and compliance standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and foundational engineering knowledge with exposure to CAD/design tools.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, update, and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and design criteria using MicroStation CAD software.
• Ensure all engineering designs comply with internal procedures and applicable industry standards including NESC, ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, ERCOT, and NERC requirements.
• Design and support development of engineering systems, components, and processes based on operational and project requirements.
• Conduct engineering analysis, testing, and evaluations to ensure safety, reliability, and performance compliance.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, drawings, and related project materials.
• Assist in troubleshooting engineering and technical issues while recommending practical solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (required).
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Familiarity with MicroStation or similar CAD/design software preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documents.
• Understanding of utility/energy industry engineering standards and codes is a plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to utility, transmission, distribution, or infrastructure engineering projects.
• Knowledge of engineering compliance standards and documentation processes.
• Internship or co-op experience in engineering environments is a plus.
