Summary
Plans and implements four 70-minute classes in assigned catalog courses for students in grades 7-12; utilizes best practices in teaching to achieve program goals; develops and delivers lesson plans that foster creativity and build technical skill while allowing for individual expression; provides instruction and guidance to classes of 12-30 students, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment; evaluates student progress and provides positive reinforcement to build confidence and skill; works with students to create work for the final showcase, open to families and peers; participates in required teacher workdays before and after the camp session in July; maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, regulation, and policy.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in a related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, or possession of a current, active license issued by the Virginia Department of Education required. Experience providing services and/or instruction to students, required. Current FCPS licensed teachers with an endorsement in the relevant fine or performing arts specialty, preferred. Demonstrated ability to engage students in active learning; effective use of instructional technology; and strong oral and written communication skills.
