Material Handler

Material Handler: Freeport, Illinois

Our customer in Freeport, Illinois is looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Material Handler to work full-time on 1st shift. In this role, you will be responsible for moving, packaging, and staging materials to support shipping, receiving, and production operations while maintaining accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities of the Material Handler:

Pull finished goods from stock using barcoding systems to complete orders accurately.

Stack, wrap, and secure materials to prevent damage during transportation and shipping.

Move completed pallets to shipping areas and unload finished goods from conveyors.

Load raw materials and offcuts into inventory systems accurately.

Execute transactions and generate reports within MRP/ERP systems.

Complete daily inventory cycle counts following standard work instructions.

Perform quality inspections on finished goods to ensure compliance with standards.

Package, crate, and prepare orders for shipment using cardboard and wood materials.

Process parcel shipments through FedEx and UPS systems.

Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.

Communicate potential late orders or issues to the Supervisor.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of packaging and crating areas.

Work safely and follow all company safety procedures at all times.

Material Handler Requirements and Qualifications:

1–3 years of experience in a material handling, warehouse, or distribution environment preferred.

Knowledge of packaging standards and techniques to prevent freight damage.

Familiarity with barcoding systems and ERP software.

Ability to handle and stack materials carefully to prevent damage.

Ability to operate hand tools and equipment used in wood crating.

General understanding of shipping practices and documentation.

Forklift experience and certification preferred.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.

Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet operational demands.

Pay for Material Handler:

$18.50–$21.53/hour.
