About the Company

A rapidly growing, nationwide fiber infrastructure provider is expanding its engineering organization to support large-scale network expansion and modernization initiatives. The company owns and operates high-performance, all-fiber networks supporting enterprise, carrier, public sector, and cloud-driven environments across multiple U.S. markets.

This organization is investing heavily in scalable processes, automation, and data-driven engineering workflows to support continued growth. They are seeking professionals who value precision, accountability, and long-term operational excellence.

Role Overview

This OSP Engineer will play a critical role in driving engineering efficiency, process automation, and design standardization across outside plant (OSP) fiber projects. This individual will work closely with internal engineering teams and external partners to optimize how fiber networks are designed, documented, and delivered.

This role blends hands-on fiber engineering expertise with a strong focus on process improvement, systems optimization, and cross-functional coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Design fiber and conduit routes supporting services such as Dark Fiber, Ethernet, DIA, WDM, SD-WAN, and FTTx

Develop diverse and resilient routing solutions using existing network assets

Research and interpret jurisdictional requirements for construction within public and private ROWs and easements

Perform route analysis, fiber optimization, and risk assessments using GIS and field validation

Produce engineering outputs detailing fiber paths, splice plans, and construction requirements

Review and approve construction drawings, splice plans, BOMs, and specialized crossing designs

Support field investigations and resolve routing challenges with alternative solutions

Process Improvement & Automation Focus

Standardize engineering workflows to improve consistency, speed, and quality

Identify opportunities to automate design outputs, documentation, and reporting processes

Improve accuracy and usability of internal engineering and project tracking systems

Drive clean and reliable data practices across GIS, inventory, and planning tools

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to timelines, resource allocation, and quality metrics

Data, Systems & Performance Management

Maintain accurate engineering records across internal project management tools

Monitor KPIs related to delivery timelines, quality, and engineering throughput

Ensure alignment between design data, construction execution, and inventory systems

Cross-Functional & Vendor Collaboration

Act as a primary engineering liaison across internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders

Support customer-facing updates related to progress, risks, and forecasting

Mentor and support junior engineers and design resources

Contribute to strategic engineering initiatives and complex problem-solving efforts

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in fiber network engineering, OSP design, or telecom construction

Strong understanding of fiber construction methods and best practices

Experience reviewing engineering and construction drawings for municipal or jurisdictional submission

Proficiency with GIS-based systems, spatial data, and mapping tools

Experience with process optimization, workflow improvement, or engineering automation

Proficiency in tools such as:

GIS platforms
