Position Description: The Human Resources Manager provides a hands-on, systems-oriented approach to build and strengthen Love Columbia's people practices.
This position provides operational leadership across all HR functions, ensuring compliance, consistency, and a healthy, mission-aligned workplace culture.
The HR Manager will establish and sustain the infrastructure needed to support a growing organization, balancing compassion with clarity and people-centered care with sound HR practices.
Key Areas of Responsibility: HR Infrastructure & Systems · Support executive leadership in aligning HR operations with organizational goals.
· Build and maintain HR policies, systems, and procedures.
· Provide guidance on organizational structure and workforce planning as needed.
Employee Relations & Performance Management · Lead employee relations, coaching managers through performance issues and conflict.
· Ensure fair, consistent, and documented performance practices across the organization.
· Oversee the performance review process, providing guidance to managers and employees on all personnel matters.
Compliance & Risk Management · Ensure compliance with DOL and FLSA, while overseeing FMLA and Worker’s Compensation claims.
· Maintain accurate records and oversee employee classification.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding · Develop and execute best practices for recruitment and hiring.
· Oversee job description development and maintenance.
· Design and implement onboarding processes that set up employees for success.
Compensation, Benefits, & HR Systems · Support compensation structure development and maintenance.
· Oversee employee benefits administration.
· Maintain and optimize payroll and HR systems.
Culture & Manager Support · Contribute to a healthy, mission-aligned workplace culture.
· Equip managers with tools, resources, and guidance for people leadership.

Relevant Education, Certification and Experience · Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field.
· 4-6 years of HR experience, including compliance and employee relations.
· Human Resource certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
· Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
· Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.
· Ability to manage sensitive situations professionally.
· Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS preferred.
Physical Requirements This position operates in a professional office environment requiring the following physical abilities: · Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods of time.
· Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, and standard office equipment.
· Ability to communicate clearly via telephone, video conferencing, and in both written and spoken formats.
· Ability to lift and carry office supplies and materials weighing up to 15 pounds on an occasional basis.
