The Compliance Coordinator supports the organization’s Compliance department while overseeing the processing of records disclosures, including protected health information (PHI) and personally identifiable information (PII). This role ensures that all information releases, regulatory activities, and internal processes align with applicable federal, state laws, including HIPAA and state privacy requirements.

The Compliance Coordinator serves as a key operational and compliance resource, supporting audits, investigations, incident response, and disclosure management.

Essential Duties Compliance SupportAssist in the implementation and ongoing support of the organization’s compliance departmentSupport internal monitoring activities and risk assessmentsMaintain logs for incidents, complaints, disclosures, and corrective actionsAssist investigating potential compliance incidents, including documentation and follow-upSupport breach/incident response processes in coordination with leadershipMonitor compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements Release of Information (ROI) & Disclosure ManagementProcess and fulfill requests for PHI and PII in accordance with HIPAA and applicable state lawsReview and validate authorizations, subpoenas, court orders, and other legal requestsApply the minimum necessary standard to all disclosuresMaintain accurate accounting of disclosures and tracking logsCoordinate with internal departments to retrieve records in a timely mannerPerform or coordinate redaction of sensitive information prior to releaseEnsure compliance with required turnaround times and service standardsIdentify and escalate high-risk or unclear disclosure requests CompetenciesStrong organizational skillsAttention to accuracy and detailAbility to multi-taskAbility to work independentlyPerform all other duties as may be required Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Compliance, or related field preferred.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience2-5 years of experience in compliance, health information management, or release of informationExperience working with HIPAA and Privacy regulationsExperience handling legal requests (subpoenas, authorizations) preferred Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
