Skills and Competencies

Employment eligibility to work in the United States is required, as Moody’s will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position

Onsite or hybrid work requirement based in Boca Raton, Florida

Five or more years of experience in data engineering, building and operating production-grade data pipelines

Strong hands-on programming experience with Python, PySpark, Scala, and SQL

Proven experience designing or working with configuration-driven or metadata-driven data pipelines

Hands-on experience working within a Databricks-based data platform

Solid understanding of data modeling, schema evolution, and large-scale dataset management

Experience deploying and operating data solutions in AWS and Azure cloud environments

Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts with experience integrating data pipelines into automated delivery workflows

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams

Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency, along with a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use

Experience using dbt for data transformations, testing, and documentation is preferred

Familiarity with data governance, cataloging, and lineage tools is a plus

Experience supporting externally facing or commercial data products is desirable

Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or platform automation tooling is beneficial

Knowledge of data quality frameworks and monitoring solutions is an advantage

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating robust, scalable ETL and ELT pipelines that enable reliable delivery of enterprise and commercial datasets within Moody’s Databricks ecosystem.

Develop, maintain, and operate scalable ETL and ELT pipelines that ingest, transform, and publish datasets across multiple data domains

Implement and extend configuration-driven pipeline frameworks to efficiently onboard and manage a growing number of datasets with consistent patterns and controls

Build and optimize data transformations and validations using Python, PySpark, Scala, and SQL within Databricks

Ensure data products are well-structured, performant, and optimized for downstream consumption by internal analytics teams and external commercial clients

Partner with data producers, platform teams, and data consumers to define data contracts, schemas, SLAs, and quality standards

Apply best practices for data reliability, observability, performance tuning, and cost optimization

Contribute to and adhere to CI/CD practices for data pipelines, including automated testing, deployment, and promotion across environments

Develop and operate data pipelines across cloud environments with hands-on experience in AWS and Azure

Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for data pipelines, configurations, and operational processes

Support data governance initiatives, including data quality management, lineage, and access controls

This team plays a mission-critical role within the Enterprise Data Platform (CORE), supporting one of the most complex and impactful components of Moody’s data estate. The group is a modern, forward-thinking, and innovation-driven data engineering organization responsible for powering one of the world’s largest financial and company databases, which serves as a foundational asset for Moody’s current and future success in an increasingly AI-driven financial industry.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $95,500.00 - $138,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
