The Deputy Project Manager supports the Sr. Program Director in ensuring projects are planned, executed, and delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. To perform this job successfully, the individual must competently manage day to day project activities, coordinate cross functional teams, assess risks, prepare reports, maintain documentation, and represent the Project Manager when delegated. Strong communication, analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities are essential.
This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. Candidates MUST be located in the Atlanta metroplex.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Project Planning and Coordination
Assist in developing project plans, timelines, work breakdown structures, and resource allocations
Coordinate tasks and deliverables across teams to ensure smooth workflow
Facilitate project meetings, document outcomes, and follow up on action items
Project Execution and Monitoring
Track project progress against schedule, scope, and budget
Prepare status reports and dashboards for leadership and stakeholders
Maintain project documentation, logs, and performance metrics
Risk & Issue Management
Identify project risks and issues, maintain risk registers, and propose mitigation strategies
Escalate critical blockers and provide recommendations for resolution
Monitor change requests and ensure proper impact assessments
Stakeholder & Team Management
Serve as a key point of contact for project stakeholders and team members
Support communication plans, updates, and distribution of project materials
Ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities, and expectations
Quality Assurance
Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and acceptance criteria
Support audits, reviews, and process compliance activities
Resource & Vendor Coordination:
Assist with resource scheduling, workload balancing, and onboarding of team members
Support procurement activities and vendor coordination if the project includes external partners
Acting Project Manager
Lead the project in the PM’s absence, including decision-making authority when delegated
Represent the project in leadership meetings when required

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
PMP certification is REQUIRED
3–5+ years of project coordination or management experience in the Government Tolling/Transportation Industry is REQUIRED
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of project management methodologies
Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence/Jira) and Microsoft Office Suite
Exceptional organizational, analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
Attention to detail and accuracy are necessary for this job
Ability to influence without authority and build strong working relationships.
Domestic travel is required; possibly up to 25%
