What You'll Do
The Dry End Superintendent will:
Lead daily operations across the planer mill, dry kiln, and shipping and receiving departments
Set the standard for safety — model safe behavior and ensure the team follows all policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations
Partner with the Mill Manager and peers to build production schedules and coordinate operations for maximum output and efficiency
Coach, train, and develop supervisors to drive performance, quality, and production specifications
Identify equipment issues, assist with troubleshooting, and lead proactive problem-solving
Coordinate with Maintenance on preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment upgrades or replacements
Oversee shipping and receiving employees and inventory accuracy
Drive department performance against goals for safety, quality, waste reduction, housekeeping, and process reliability
Implement key corporate and operational initiatives on time and on plan
What We're Looking For
Required:
5–7+ years of sawmill, planer mill, and/or dry kiln experience
2+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Proven track record leading teams and raising performance through coaching and development
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices
Experience driving results in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills
Working knowledge of business and financial concepts
Proficiency with MS Office and Windows-based programs
Willingness to respond to after-hours calls and work weekends or holidays as needed
Preferred:
Experience leading multilingual or non-English-speaking crews
Background in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies
Prior experience overseeing shipping, receiving, and inventory functions

Work at heights and climb stairs and ladders
Work in extreme heat or cold and outdoor conditions
Work in confined or restricted spaces when required
Work in elevated noise levels (hearing protection required)
Maintain constant alertness around heavy equipment and hazardous materials
