Job Description
Icahn Charter School paraprofessionals are dedicated to the academic success and high achievement of all students. They are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students in the classroom. Paraprofessionals may support an individual student, a small group or students or whole class instruction. They support the planning and instruction of the classroom teacher and provide insight into individual student needs. The classroom paraprofessional contributes to data collection and reporting on trends observed in student engagement, achievement and participation. They are responsive to feedback and uphold the Icahn instructional priorities.
Responsibilities:
Supports all aspects of instruction in the classroom
Works with individual students or with small groups of students under the general supervision of the classroom teacher to reinforce instruction
Building community and commitment to shared learning among other paraprofessionals at the school or within the network
Provides classroom and behavior management support and implements building wide strategies to promote positive student behavior
Consults with members of student educational team
Collaborates with and responds to the classroom teacher
Provides administrative support
Acting in a way that promotes positive student behavior
Communicating with teachers, administration and students
Ensuring the safety and security of students
Assignment Dependent: Contributes information to IEP and supports student goals within their IEP
Assignment Dependent: Provides clerical or technical support; Provides personal and/or health assistance
Maintains and builds the knowledge, skills and mindsets necessary for success in the position
Promotes effective communication within the school building and across the network
Acts ethically and professionally in all decisions, actions and relationships
Performs related duties
Requirements:
High School Diploma
A belief in and commitment to high levels of student achievement
Strong communication skills and responsiveness to feedback
Ability to keep records and make reports that communicate data and experience
