Emergency Medicine in Central Wyoming

Will provide twelve, 12-14 hour shifts a month - will average 120-144 hours a month. Hours are 7:00 am – 7:00 pm. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with single shift coverage. $230/hour with no bonuses and mal practice coverage paid. Relocation assistance provided and negotiable signing bonus. HOSPITAL SIZE AND TYPE: Rural 80 beds, level III Trauma

ED VOLUME: 12,000 visits per year

PARAMEDIC/PRE-HOSPITAL CARE SUPPORT: Fremont County EMS is the single ambulance service for the city, and is staffed with beginning and intermediate EMTs. They are able to administer limited meds, and start IVs under physician directed protocols. They are also authorized to use Combitubes for airway management.

TRAUMA CAPABILITIES AND RESOURCES: Riverton Memorial Hospital is a level III trauma center located near the Wind River Arapahoe & Shoshone reservation. We see a variety of trauma and illness ranging from pediatrics to the elderly. There is good support from the local trauma surgeons. Sever traumatic injuries, requiring a higher level of care are transferred to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper via Wyoming Lifeflight.

ADMISSION RATE: The admission rate varies between 10-13%.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT: 6 bed ER with 2 trauma/critical care bays.


Radiology – In-hospital radiologist from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. On-call 24/7. Rad Techs are in-house 24 hours a day. CT, and emergency ultrasound are available on-call at all times.

Pharmacy – 7:30-4:30, then on call.

Lab – Lab techs are in-house 24 hours a day. 10/15/2014 2 Respiratory Therapy – 24/7

PHYSICIAN SHIFT LENGTHS AND TIMES: The hours for shifts run 6 AM – 6 PM, 6 PM – 6AM.

NURSING SUPPORT: 2-3 Nurses are utilized per shift. We have a very strong, experienced nursing staff, and utilize a team approach to patient care necessitating all members treat one another with respect.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF COMMUNITY: City of ~ 10,000 and county of 40,000. It is supported by energy exploration, ranching, farming, and education. The Wind River Reservation is nearby, and outdoor recreation is plentiful. Great fly fishing 45 minutes NW in Wind River Mountains.
