POSITION: Onamia Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and highly qualified PreK-12 Principal to begin July 1, 2026.
POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking an exceptional educational leader committed to fostering a collaborative, student-centered culture. This individual will work closely with staff and partner with administration to build and sustain a positive, inclusive and highly effective environment where students can thrive. This position is a full-time, 225-day administrative position offering a competitive salary range with an outstanding benefits package.
The Onamia School District is located along the south shore of beautiful Lake Mille Lacs and is just one and a half hours north of Minneapolis on Highway 169.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide strategic leadership in the design, implementation and continuous improvement of education programming, curriculum development and instructional practices.
Supervise and support licensed and non-licensed staff, including evaluations and professional growth.
Oversee curriculum implementation, assessment practices and data-driven decision-making.
Maintain and strengthen safety protocols while cultivating a positive, inclusive and supportive school climate.
Collaborate closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Principal to advance and operationalize the District's mission, vision and strategic priorities.
Build and sustain strong relationships with students, families, community organizations, tribal and local agencies, staff and the broader community to foster engagement, trust and shared responsibility for student success.
Manage building operations, including scheduling, budgeting and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Lead special education processes and student support services.
Ensure safe school practices, crisis response readiness and adherence to district policies.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Minnesota Administration License required
Demonstrated experience in instructional leadership, curriculum and staff supervision
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Background in rural education, small-school leadership or community-centered schools
