Mechanical Assembly Technician

Location: Sumter, SC

Job Type: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for reading blueprints and correctly assembling enclosures and other products. This position plays a key role in ensuring the product is assembled according to the customer's needs. Other responsibilities of a Mechanical Assembly Technician include being able to identify hardware, use basic hand tools, and able to make sure the product can be assembled in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Interface with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met.

Learn the use and care of basic hand tools.

Learn the identification of hardware types and sizes.

Learn the identification and use of assembly, parts lists, and piece-part drawings.

Learn proper assembly techniques of electrical components used in electrical enclosures.

Learn the proper use of electric and air-powered tools.

Learn the basics of CPS manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications:

Highschool diploma or GED

Employees may be an entry-level trainee.

Must have U.S Citizenship

Microsoft Suite experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in mechanical assembly

Forklift certified

Essential Physical Job Functions:

Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly

Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time

Ability to climb ladders or step stools to access material when needed

Capable of handling repetitive motions such as grasping, lifting, and pulling items

Able to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment when needed

Ability to work in various warehouse environments, including hot, cold, or noisy conditions

Sufficient vision and hearing to safely operate equipment and perform job duties
