Job Description
The Shift Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This role helps minimize downtime by performing preventative maintenance, responding to equipment issues, and working closely with production and maintenance teams to keep equipment operating effectively and in compliance with company safety and quality standards.
Duties and responsibilities
Installing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems.
Sourcing or fabricating replacement electrical components.
Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
Determines changes in parts requirements by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
Maintains inventories of equipment, parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance.
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or similar.
Relevant license or certification.
A valid driver's license.
At least 2-3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician (preferably in Manufacturing).
Experience with power tools and other equipment.
Problem-Solving Skills
Firm grasp of health and safety codes.
Patience when teaching apprentices.
Superb Customer Service.
