Position: Communications Coordinator Job Description

This is a Part-time position

Reports To: Senior Pastor

Position Purpose: To communicate information to the congregation at two campus locations through multiple modalities.

Essential Responsibilities:

Manage web communication with members of the congregation such as the website, weekly and monthly electronic communication, social media (Facebook and others as deemed necessary). Create and reproduce the monthly church Newsletter, weekly News for the Pews and the e-news Quips & Quotes

Maintain church calendar

Print and distribute church council agendas and reports

Work in partnership with leadership and members to find creative ways to reach out to new audiences through new and existing channels, such as online communities, blogs and new web applications.

Work with technology providers to understand new applications that will help enhance and expand communications for our members and our communities

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Status: Part-time salaried

Working Conditions: Work will be performed indoors on two campuses and (when agreed upon) from home.

Rate of Pay: $260-$300 per week for all hours worked based upon experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of design and web-creation software; Microsoft Office, Facebook, Microsoft Publisher, Outlook and website design and maintenance (GoDaddy Website Builder currently in use). Understanding of HTML also helpful.

Excellent writing skills with meticulous attention to details of grammar style and usage.

Ability to listen and communicate clearly while maintaining excellent interpersonal and cooperative relationships across the age spectrum involving leadership, fellow staff members and congregation members.

Ability to maintain focus and to plan, organize, prioritize and accurately follow through on work activities that have time constraints and interruptions.

Ability to meet deadlines as well as to work independently with a minimum amount of direction and/or supervision.

Ability to remain flexible, resilient, and calm while maintaining a sense of humor; also, to regularly present a clean, well-groomed image.

Desirable Qualifications:

Proficient in working with database software

Ability to edit audio and video files (MP3, WMA, YouTube and Audacity)

A basic understanding of congregational life

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Preferable: English, Communications or Computer Skills certificate or degree.
