Excavation Operator
We are a reputable, stable excavation company, in business for over 15 years and specializing in road/sidewalk construction, box culverts, retaining walls, drainage, concrete flat work, grading and much more. We build a variety of projects in central and western Maine: Box Culverts, Private and State Roadwork, residential and commercial side work and some examples of the projects we do, ranging from $5,000 to $4 million. Reporting to the president, the excavation operator will be responsible for operating heavy machinery to effectively and safely move earth and materials on construction sites. This role requires strong attention to detail, thorough knowledge of the equipment, excellent hand-eye coordination, the ability to operate levers, as well as physical fitness, as you will remain seated for long periods of time. To be considered the excavator should possess 3 years and 5000 plus hours of proven seat tie with a reputable company, as well as a positive attitude, to fit into the culture of our team .

Pay depends on talent and experience. This is not an entry level position.
Typical hours are 6:30 to 5:00 (45-50 hrs avg work week), Monday through Friday.
Essential Responsibilities
Operate the excavator and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
Prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards.
Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.
Ensure that any equipment is in safe operating condition.
Follow directions of the construction manager or supervisor.
Report any incidents, accidents or injuries immediately to the supervisor.
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures.
· Follow all safety and company rules.
· Run a variety of equipment daily, such as excavators, backhoes, dozer, skid steers, loaders.
· Keep equipment clean and up to date on daily maintenance. Most of our equipment is under warranty and serviced by the dealer. You will not be turning wrenches
· Occasionally perform tasks outside of operating the equipment assisting the crew.
Essential Qualifications
Proven work experience as an Excavator Operator.
Experience in operating construction or heavy equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snowblowers, and other pieces of equipment.
Knowledge of safe operation of heavy equipment as well as safety guidelines.
Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions.
Ability to work in a team environment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
· Must have a valid C class License and reliable transportation. Class A or B is a plus.
· Minimum 3 years (5000 hours) of operating experience in our line of work (road construction, ditching, digging for pipe, fine grading etc.)
· Must be Experienced in the road work industry
· Self-motivated and on time to work every day
· Ability to take direction from foremen and perform tasks alone
· Good physical condition and stamina
