The Grand Rapids Housing Commission is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Supervisor to lead and oversee the daily maintenance operations of all GRHC properties. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that GRHC facilities are safe, functional, well-maintained, and compliant with all applicable standards.Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising maintenance, repair, and operational activities for GRHC properties. This role ensures that all buildings and systems are maintained to provide safe, habitable, and code-compliant environments for residents and staff.
This position directly supervises a team of maintenance staff, providing leadership, direction, training, and performance oversight to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with organizational standards.
The position also oversees maintenance of structural components, fixtures, furnishings, and critical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other facility-related services.Key Responsibilities
Supervise, lead, and develop a team of maintenance staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and support
Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily maintenance and repair activities across GRHC properties
Ensure all facilities meet safety, habitability, and regulatory compliance standards
Oversee the maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Promote high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency, and fiscal responsibility
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer service that enhances resident satisfaction
Respond to and coordinate emergency maintenance situations as neededMinimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required, plus one of the following:
Certificate in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field; or
Journey card or completion of a recognized apprenticeship or training program in an electrical, electronic, mechanical, or piping trade; and four (4) years of progressively responsible maintenance experience; or
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in building or residential property maintenance
