Job Description
Summary
The DOT Superintendent is responsible for large sized Civil construction projects, from project kickoff throughout final punch-list closeout. The role will support various teams, including the scheduling and oversight of subcontractors. The Utility Superintendent will be responsible for delivering the project on time and developing and maintaining productive and trusted relationships with the client and related stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the safe conduct of personnel and subcontractors to ensure a zero-accident project. Ensure all site personnel meet minimum safety requirements (e.g. training, orientations, tools and equipment)
Coordinate assigned work with work of different construction professionals, company departments, or other contractors. Oversee the performance and training of project teams and subcontractors. Maintain subcontractor relationships
Manage multiple small to large sized civil construction projects simultaneously
Help develop, maintain and enforce schedule, ensure that all project objectives and milestones are met
Work with estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule, and ensure no scope gap or miss
Assist in resolving construction problems (e.g. lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required
Monitor construction compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
Assist with project pursuits in evaluation of construction scope(s), assessing appropriate manpower and work sequencing
Prepare daily activity plans to assure that requisite personnel, equipment and supplies are in place to ensure that the following days' work will be conducted in a safe manner with minimal wasted effort
Ensure that direct reporting employees follow safe work practices and use company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Support close-out process
Provide timely updates to project team and management
Complete all required reporting such as daily report, weekly report, and any other report required for meetings
Perform additional assignments per Project Manager's direction.

Education and/or Experience
At least 6 years of experience supporting commercial construction projects as a Superintendent with a General Contractor
Ability to implement and manage a project schedule
Ability and desire to train and mentor subordinate field staff
Experience in HCSS(Heavyjobs) and Bluebeam is preferred
Safety oriented OSHA 30 preferred
Cost control, manpower planning and scheduling experience
Leadership attributes including, but and not limited to organizational and critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze data and trends, professional conduct at all times
High-stress tolerance; must be able to thrive in a high-pressure environment
A highly motivated self-starting, autonomous individual who can work independently and set their own priorities, yet also function well as part of the overall team

Physical Requirements
Sit, stand and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday
Stand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day
Occasionally bend, kneel, squat and climb throughout the workday
Lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion
Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and may be in loud environments
Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others
