This role leads the supporting design team, ensuring that all product development activities meet quality, timing, and cost objectives.

The Product Engineer sets and upholds design and documentation standards, drives cross-functional alignment across schematic, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, and supports the full product lifecycle from concept through prototype, validation, and design-for-manufacturing and assembly.

Responsibilities + Lead the design definition and development of new products as well as enhancements to existing industrial equipment, ensuring alignment with project quality, timing, and cost targets.

+ Set, maintain, and enforce company standards for design practices and documentation to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance.

+ Take ownership of product designs and associated documentation, including models, drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting technical information.

+ Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align schematic, mechanical, and electrical designs, ensuring that all disciplines integrate effectively into a cohesive product.

+ Identify, interpret, and apply relevant requirements, codes, standards, and best practices (such as ANSI, ISO, and OSHA) throughout the design process.

+ Use SolidWorks and other CAD tools to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings for industrial equipment, including enclosures, booths, material handling systems, automation systems, and HVAC-related products.

+ Perform or oversee analysis and validation activities, including FEA, GD&T application, CFD, and thermal analysis, to verify design performance and reliability.

+ Support prototype development, working with manufacturing and operations teams to resolve design and production issues as they arise.

+ Identify and implement design-for-manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) opportunities to improve manufacturability, reduce cost, and enhance product quality.

+ Develop and manage schematics and P&IDs, ensuring accurate representation of system functions and interfaces.

+ Create, maintain, and manage BOMs, ensuring accuracy and completeness for production, purchasing, and configuration control.

+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to continuously improve products, processes, and documentation, incorporating feedback from manufacturing, quality, and customers.

+ Contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented culture by mentoring team members, sharing best practices, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

+ At least 5 years of experience designing industrial equipment, including enclosures or booths, material handling systems, automation systems, and HVAC-related equipment.

+ Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.

+ Hands-on experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to define and control part and assembly requirements.

+ Experience performing or working with finite element analysis (FEA) to validate structural and mechanical performance.

+ Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal analysis for evaluating airflow, pressure, and thermal behavior in designs.

+ Experience creating and interpreting schematics and P&IDs for complex mechanical and industrial systems.

+ Experience managing bills of materials (BOMs) to support production, procurement, and configuration control.

+ Strong understanding of industrial equipment design, including enclosures, material handling systems, and HVAC applications.

+ Ability to interpret and apply industry codes, standards, and best practices such as ANSI, ISO, and OSHA.

+ Proven ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated product solutions.

+ Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive projects to completion while balancing quality, cost, and schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with DriveWorks for design automation and configuration is a plus.

+ Experience with CadLink or similar tools that integrate CAD and ERP systems is beneficial.

+ Experience supporting prototypes and applying design-for-manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) principles.

+ Exposure to PLM or PDM systems for managing product data and revision control.

+ Professional Engineer (PE) license is a strong plus.

+ SolidWorks certification is highly desirable.

+ Experience in pressure vessels, HVAC products, or structural systems is advantageous.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in both design and documentation.

+ Effective communication skills with the ability to present design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams.

+ Desire to grow responsibilities over time and contribute to the long-term success of the organization.
