EAF Operator OB SUMMARY/PURPOSE The Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the electric arc furnace to melt and refine metal for the production of railroad wheels.
This role supports the company's manufacturing goals by ensuring efficient and safe furnace operations.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Operate the electric arc furnace to melt and refine metal according to production specifications.
Monitor furnace temperature, power levels, and other parameters to ensure optimal performance.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on furnace equipment.
Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Record and report production data and furnace performance metrics.
Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
Assist in the training of new operators and provide guidance as needed.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating electric arc furnaces or similar equipment in a manufacturing setting.
Skills & Competencies: Proficiency in operating and maintaining electric arc furnaces.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and production specifications.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Certifications: Forklift certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree in a related field.
Previous experience in a foundry or metal manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to furnace operations.
