MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR

Salary Range: $28.75 - $ 39.79 per hour
The purpose of this position is to diagnose and perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on gas and diesel vehicles and equipment while supervising the daily operation of the shop.Position SummaryThe Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing gas and diesel vehicles and equipment while overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance shop. This position combines hands-on mechanical work with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring efficient shop operations, staff performance, and equipment reliability.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Leadership
Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate shop personnel
Address employee concerns, performance issues, and workplace challenges
Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of shop employees
Plan, coordinate, and implement shop goals, workflows, and processes
Provide guidance and technical direction to staffShop Operations & Administration
Recommend and procure equipment, tools, and supplies; work with vendors on pricing
Order, stock, and manage inventory of parts and materials
Ensure efficient daily shop operations and workflow
Maintain records and reports related to maintenance and repairsMechanical & Technical Duties
Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on a wide range of equipment
Diagnose and repair gas and diesel vehicles including:
Cars, trucks, tractors, mowers, and heavy construction equipment
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems
Maintain and repair engines, motors, generators, and related equipment
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble electric motors
Rewire electrical panels and replace defective components
Test machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation
Coordinate external repairs when necessaryFabrication & Equipment Operation
Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed
Cut and shape metal using plasma cutters, torches, grinders, and saws
Operate various equipment and tools, including:
Forklifts, cranes, compressors, generators
Diagnostic tools, welders, and mechanical/electrical equipmentMaintenance & Safety
Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Perform general building maintenance for City facilities as needed
Participate in safety meetings and enforce safety protocols
Maintain a safe and organized work environmentQualifications
Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engine repair
Experience with heavy equipment and fleet maintenance
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic work
Welding and fabrication experience preferred
Ability to operate shop equipment and tools safelyWork Environment
Shop and field environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying weather conditions
Requires physical activity including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periodsBenefits
