This Engineering role at the Broadcast Educational Media Commission is responsible for maintaining both the hardware and software components of the broadcasting platform that supports the agency’s Joint Master Control for Ohio’s public broadcasting stations.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and maintain storage systems, servers, desktop hardware, software applications, databases, virtual machines, network infrastructure, and VoIP systems supporting radio and television broadcast operations.

Evaluate and implement security updates and controls in alignment with industry best practices.

Optimize workflows and system performance to improve productivity and operational efficiency.

Manage incidents and changes, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to services.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, including runbooks and technical diagrams; oversee assigned tasks and projects.

Knowledge and competency in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and LAN/WAN networking

Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Must have valid driver’s license

Windows 11 endpoint support (drivers, profiles, Defender)

Windows Server 2022 administration (roles/features, services, event logs)

Patch management (WSUS), maintenance windows & rollback plans

File permissions (NTFS, SMB, inheritance; troubleshooting access denied)

Active Directory basics (OU structure, groups, GPOs, password resets, audits)

TrueNAS or ZFS familiarity (datasets, snapshots, replication, scrubs, SMART)

Ticketing systems (ServiceNow/ManageEngine), triage

On call participation (after hours), live incident triage

Documentation/runbooks, change records, post incident reviews

Basic networking (IPv4, DNS/DHCP, VLANs); basic multicast concepts
