Store Manager Role:

As Store Manager, you will oversee all aspects of day-to-day supermarket operations while driving sales, profit, and an exceptional customer experience. You will lead department managers and store associates, ensure fresh and well-merchandised products, and protect all store assets, including inventory, cash, equipment, and the building.

You will be responsible for executing the store’s annual operating budget, controlling expenses, managing labor, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and service. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume grocery environment and wants to make a visible impact every day.

Lead all daily operations of a high-volume grocery supermarket in Grand Cayman, ensuring standards of cleanliness, safety, merchandising, and production are consistently met.

Achieve and exceed sales, gross profit, and labor targets in line with the store’s annual operating budget.

Oversee inventory management, including ordering, stock rotation, shrink control, and regular cycle counts to ensure accuracy and freshness.

Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team of department managers and store associates; provide ongoing feedback, training, and performance reviews.

Handle hiring, onboarding, scheduling, counseling, disciplinary action, and recommendations for promotions or terminations as needed.

Ensure every customer receives professional, friendly, and efficient service, quickly resolving any complaints or issues.

Maintain tight control over cash handling, bookkeeping, deposits, and adherence to all financial and operational controls.

Plan and manage staff schedules, holiday coverage, and inventory preparation in line with business needs.

Conduct regular store walks through all departments to verify merchandising, pricing accuracy, signage, product freshness, and overall presentation.

Implement and maintain promotions, specials, and temporary price reductions, ensuring pricing and signage are accurate and current.

Liaise with vendors and suppliers, supporting negotiation and ensuring programs, pricing, and service levels protect the company’s interests and improve margins.

Collaborate closely with Human Resources on hiring, performance management, injuries, and employee relations matters.

Maintain and enforce store policies for safety, security, and loss prevention.

Be available in case of emergencies and support the resolution of critical operational issues affecting the store.

Monitor supermarket industry trends and help implement approved initiatives to keep the store competitive and relevant.

Store Manager Background Profile:

High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in business, retail management, or a related field is an asset.

10+ years of progressive experience in grocery retail, including at least 5 years as a Store Manager, General Manager, or equivalent in a full-service supermarket environment.

Proven track record of achieving sales and profit goals, reducing shrink, and improving operational efficiency in a high-volume setting.

Strong knowledge of grocery departments, especially perishables such as produce, meat, bakery, and deli.

Excellent leadership, communication, and people-management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop diverse teams.

Solid math and analytical skills for budgeting, forecasting, ordering, and margin management.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability, with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and making sound decisions under pressure.

Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, based on business needs.
