Quality Inspector – Forging (Hot Inspection)
Location: Brownstown, MI
Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Pay Range: $18.00 – $20.00/hour + weekly production bonuses (after 90 days)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM (some Saturdays required)
About the Opportunity
A well-established forging manufacturer in the Brownstown, MI area is seeking a Quality Inspector to join its team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality through inspection processes, SPC monitoring, and final audits in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
This position operates in a forging environment with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial conditions. Candidates must be comfortable working in these conditions on a daily basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on inspection experience who is looking for long-term stability in a physically demanding, team-oriented manufacturing setting.
Important Note: Candidates must complete a drug test after offer acceptance (candidate-paid upfront and reimbursed after 90 days of employment).
What You’ll Do
● Perform hot inspections and final audits on forged products
● Monitor and support SPC (Statistical Process Control) processes
● Assist with gage R&R testing and quality validation activities
● Read and interpret blueprints to ensure product compliance
● Use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and height gages
● Participate in quality initiatives and cross-functional teams as needed
● Maintain strict adherence to quality standards and inspection procedures
What You Bring
● Minimum 1 year of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
● Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools
● Ability to read and understand blueprints
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
● Basic math skills and understanding of measurement concepts
● Familiarity with SPC processes (preferred)
● Forging, foundry, or heavy manufacturing experience (preferred, not required)
● High school diploma or equivalent
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
● Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
● Frequent bending, reaching, walking, and handling of materials
● Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot/cold) and loud environments (up to 120 dB)
● Regular lifting up to 20 pounds
● Visual requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision with ability to focus
This role is best suited for individuals who have worked in heavy manufacturing, forging, foundry, or similar industrial environments and are comfortable in physically demanding conditions.
