Job Title: EHS Manager
Position Overview
Glacial Lakes Energy is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead site safety and environmental compliance programs. This role drives a strong safety culture, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports continuous improvement initiatives impacting employee safety and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, document, and provide training on a project specific Health and Safety program using company guidelines and processes
Implements a state of safety awareness for all work
Observe, document, train, and provide feedback to third party vendors performing work on behalf of company.
Perform all near miss and actual safety accidents analysis, corrective / preventative measures, and manage Workman's Compensation process in collaboration with the Human Resources Department
Develop, document, provide training, and implement a project specific Environmental Compliance program using company guidelines and processes
Assists or leads the preparation of all permit applications, prepare regulatory reports, provide monthly EH&S reporting, and provides all support needed for EH&S compliance
Develop processes and procedures to support ongoing changes to EHS programs as needed based on Federal and/or State regulatory changes and/or corporate policy changes
Establishes procedures and processes to monitor plant emissions for EPA compliance
Provides leadership of on-site Safety and Environmental Teams
Analyzes and interprets results of tests to determine composition of solid or gaseous or liquid
Perform technical research and develop solutions to engineering problems related to safety and environmental compliance
Maintain Department of Transportation Security Plans, FDA Food Safety Plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures programs
Responsible for recording, permitting and reporting according to EPA regulations, State of South Dakota Air Quality regulations, IPP Wastewater permits, NPDES permits, DOT, FRA, FAA, and Hazardous materials
Develops and implements compliance, continuous improvement and proactive safety and the environmental programs
Identifies hazardous workplace conditions, driving incident investigations, and coordinating activities to have corrective actions implemented
Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
First Aid, CPR, AED certification and experience with emergency teams
Focus on continuous improvement in all aspects of the job
Actively promote GLE's vision, mission, and values with team members, outside vendors, and customers
Be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work
Be depended on to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
Maintain high level of customer service
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Engineering or other EHS focus is preferred
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the competencies required to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
Five (5) to seven (7) years related experience with two (2) years in managerial capacity required
Four (4) years' experience in water and wastewater industry compliance for environmental and Health and Safety programs preferred.
Broad working knowledge of Clean Water Act, NPDES requirements, Clean Air Act, SARA Title III and OSHA Standards,
Must be able to communicate clearly in English
