We’re seeking an experienced Surface Mount Manufacturing Supervisor / Manager to lead hands on SMT production operations in a fast paced electronics manufacturing environment. This is a direct hire, first shift opportunity for a leader who knows SMT from the ground up and enjoys being on the floor, supporting teams, equipment, and quality.
This role is ideal for someone who has personally overseen SMT lines, understands soldering and process control, and can balance leadership with technical involvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
Oversee daily SMT production operations, including:
Screen printing
Pick and place
Reflow
AOI / SPI
Lead and support hands on SMT technicians and operators
Ensure production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met
Monitor line performance, throughput, downtime, and yield
Coordinate job changeovers, line setups, and staffing
Coach, train, and develop SMT operators and technicians
Manage staffing levels, timecards, and overtime
Conduct performance reviews and address employee relations matters as needed
Ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC A 610, J STD 001)
Partner with Quality and Engineering to resolve defects and drive yield improvements
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions (CAPA)
Monitor solder paste quality, placement accuracy, and reflow profiles
Oversee SMT equipment operation, maintenance coordination, and calibrations
Escalate and support troubleshooting of equipment and process issues
Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement on the production floor
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience overseeing SMT production lines (required)
Hands on soldering experience and strong understanding of SMT processes
3–7+ years of experience in SMT / PCB electronics manufacturing
1–3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role (preferred)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
Ability to read and understand PCB drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
Working knowledge of reflow profiling and stencil design
Experience with MES and/or ERP systems
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Comfortable being on the production floor and supporting the team daily
