1:1 Paraeducator

Description:

Highland Middle School has an opening for a 1:1 Paraeducator for the 2026-2027 school year. The pay rate is $20.72 per hour (ELS PARA or SUB) or $21.84 per hour with a PEL. Benefits include: medical, dental and life insurance, 2 personal days, and 12 sick days.

Qualifications:

Must possess current and valid ISBE licensure with a PEL, SUB or ELS-(PARA) Paraeducator, and be registered in Lake County.

Behavioral Support:

Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by the teacher or behavior specialist.

Support students in managing their behavior, emotions, and social interactions in various settings (classroom, recess, etc.).

Assist with de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention as needed.

Monitor and document student behavior, tracking progress and reporting to the appropriate staff.

Classroom Support:

Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning.

Assist in modifying instructional materials to meet the academic and behavioral needs of students.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Support students with organizational tasks, following schedules, and completing assignments.
