NaphCare is hiring a Staff Physician to join our team of medical professionals in the Alabama Department of Corrections - Staton in Elmore, AL.
Full Time and Part Time positions may be available!
As a Correctional Staff Physician, you will be responsible for providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of the patients within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
Responsibilities
The Staff Physician is responsible for performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and managing chronic conditions, ensuring care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:
Formulating working diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimens
Evaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatment
Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facility
Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities related to medical care for patients
Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs
Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
Medical degree (MD or DO)
Valid license as a physician in the state where the facility is located
Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
Possess a current DEA registration
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to manage and direct medical team
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
