The Opportunity We are seeking a hands-on Controller to support a client in the Barrie area. This engagement will focus on supporting day-to-day accounting activities, assisting with system transition, and ensuring a smooth and accurate close process.
Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Reporting
Oversee full-cycle accounting including AP, AR, general ledger, and reconciliations
Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
Maintain and improve financial reporting packages
Cash Flow, Forecasting & Analysis
Manage cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting processes
Provide variance analysis and actionable financial insights
Support leadership with decision-making through financial analysis
Systems & Process Improvement
Leverage
Business Central
to optimize accounting workflows and reporting
Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
Support system enhancements and ensure data integrity
Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Maintain strong internal controls and documentation
Support audit and year-end processes as required
Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders
Communicate financial results clearly to non-finance leaders
Partner cross-functionally to support operational and financial goals
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including leadership exposure
Strong hands-on experience with
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
(required)
Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
